Charlotte tech company Tresata upgrades platform aimed at tackling data challenge for businesses

Charlotte-based software company Tresata Inc. has upgraded an existing platform to help more businesses overcome a tough data-related challenge.

DBP, short for Digital Business Platform, recently underwent an upgrade to give businesses of various sizes access to all of their data in a usable form, Tresata said in a recent news release announcing the commercial launch. Finding a solution to that obstacle represents one of the biggest opportunities in software, addressing a $200 billion market, Tresata said. Currently, about 68% of enterprise data is left unused, it noted.

The data analytics firm spent the last two years upgrading the system.

DBP is built exclusively for data clouds. It comes with pre-built integrations to internal data warehouses, data mesh architectures, external data sources and transactional and analytics systems. The platform makes data collected across business systems instantly usable.

Abhishek Mehta, CEO of Tresata, told CBJ the company’s goal is to establish Charlotte as the data capital of the world.

Tresata formed in 2011 with a focus on larger enterprise companies. More than 10 years later, he said Tresata’s expanded mission through DBP is to “make every business in the world use their (own) data.”

The upgraded system now makes the data accessible to small businesses, alongside the larger companies.

“We believe that if you want to be a digital company, you have to have the ability to use 100% of your data — like Google, Netflix and Facebook, like all these digital-born companies do,” Mehta said. “Whether you’re running a restaurant, a dry cleaner or a small mom-and-pop store, to the world’s largest enterprises, we’ve made (data) very easy to consume. That’s the big change in the platform.”

Tresata reaffirmed that notion in its release, stating that it “believes making data usable and available is key to every organization’s digital transformation.”

“DBP puts the same data intelligence capabilities core to the success of digital vanguards like Google and Tesla into the hands of every organization, allowing them to become data-first organizations as well,” Mehta said. “Having usable data to power every decision, product and process will be critical for businesses of all shapes and sizes to not just liberate their data, but also provide much-needed freedom to their people to succeed.”
